The Atlanta-based rapper, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, was taken into custody Sunday by detectives along with five other people while executing a search warrant at the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine, Mountain View police spokesman Sgt. Saul Jaeger said Monday.
Jenkins was taken to the Orange County jail, where he is being held on $1 million bail.
The arrest was not in connection to the fatal shooting of Eric Johnson 38, of Orinda, who worked as who was reportedly killed backstage where Jenkins was performing with rapper Wiz Khalifa at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View on Friday.
According to law enforcement officials Johnson who worked as a concert promoter was not connected to the concert was shot 5 times.
The 5 other people who were arrested were identified as, Alexa Beason, 52; William Paul Gilmore, 48; David Kuniansky-Altman, 31; Kena Jermaine Marshall, 39; and Peter Arthur Maynard, 38 according to the Mercury News. All five were employed on the tour.
None of the arrests are in connection with the murder. Police are searching for a suspect who is said to be an African American male between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8.
