33 People Shot in Chicago Labor Day Gun Violence

Gun violence once again rang out across the city of Chicago over the Labor Day weekend.

As the weekend commenced between Friday through Sunday night 33 people were wound with 3 people dead. The deadliest night being Friday with 11 shootings including 1 homicide taking place in the south side neighborhood where police found a 36 year old male shot dead on a sidewalk. Hours later a 43 year old male was fatally gunned down just south of the city. On Sunday a third homicide took place where a man was found shot dead on the 7400 block of North Ridge.


This comes on the heels of the shootings of 2 small children, one of them Antonio Smith fatally shot 6 times in an incident that has shocked many. With the continuation of gun violence the little boy’s heart broken mother says she is “ praying for the whole city right now.

Chicago throughout the summer has witnessed an astonishing level in gun violence with over 200 incidences taken place through the month of August alone.
