Baltimore Ravens Running Back Ray Rice had his contract terminated on Monday and has been placed on indefinite suspension on Monday after new video evidence emerged of him knocking his wife out cold.
Today Janay Rice has come out in support of her husband in a statement on her (now-private) Instagram account on Tuesday morning in which she professed her love for her husband and condemned the media for their coverage of the incident.
“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself”, she wrote.
“No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family.”
“To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific”.
“THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”
The disturbing tape was released by TMZ on Monday of Rice knocking out his then fiancée Janay Palmer with a single punch in the elevator at the Revel Hotel in Atlantic City New Jersey in February.
Rice was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault. In May he was accepted into a pretrial intervention program that allowed him to avoid jail time.
The couple married a month after the elevator attack.
With the violent images of the assault made public on Monday, the Ravens and the NFL moved quickly. First Baltimore had the Rice’s $40 million Baltimore Ravens contract terminated and he was also suspended indefinitely from the NFL.
