Police say a top U.S. Air Force Academy official has resigned after being arrested in a prostitution bust.

The Gazette reports that 43-year-old Dermot J. Coll was arrested after soliciting sex for cash from an undercover police officer.

Coll resigned Friday as head of a nonprofit organization controlled by the academy to raise money for athletics.

In a written resignation letter, he state that he was proud to serve there.

Academy officials declined to comment on Coll’s arrest. An Air Force spokesman at the Pentagon also refused comment.

It comes at a time when the academy has come under fire regarding past allegations about sexual misconduct and drugs use by athletes.

This isn’t Coll’s first run in with the law, he was twice convicted of drunken driving in 1996 and 2007.
