According to TMZ, Motown legend Jimmy Ruffin, has passed away at his home in Las Vegas, at the age of 78.

Ruffin reached legendary Motown status in 1966 with his hit “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” stayed on top of the charts for a long period of time and his hit 1980 hit “Hold On To My Love” reached the top 10.

Ruffin is the older brother of David Ruffin, the lead singer of The Temptations who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Ruffin’s two children announced the somber news on Monday.
