An Indiana man was arrested after his 15-year-old mentally disabled daughter was found to be severely malnourished and weighing just 35 pounds, cops said.

According to Madison County prosecutors, Steve Sells, 58, is being held for 72 hours while as they prepare to file charges. His daughter was brought to a nearby hospital on Monday covered in feces.

She was later flown to Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, because of her grave condition.

“I’m just baffled,” Anderson neighbor Thomas McAllister told WTHR. “I just couldn’t imagine how you can sit in the house with a 35-pound kid. It’s disgusting.”

The police officer who checked on the girl in the hospital wrote in the probable cause affidavit obtained by the Daily News that “her bones were protruding more than her flesh, and there were also feces on her feet.”

A four-year-old child in the home told cops that the teen was kept locked in her room. The child also said Sells picked the teen up “by her hair” and dragged her, according to the affidavit.

Sells told cops that he locked the teen up because he considered her dangerous and believed she might approach him with a knife — even though he outweighed her by nearly 200 pounds.

In addition, Sells presented cops with a letter from three years ago declaring that she had a “chromosome problem in her brain which caused her disorder, and stated that she fell today, and also a few days ago, worsening her condition to this point.”

Cops interviewed Sells’ wife and other family members, but they don’t face charges at the moment, according to the station.

“He made it seem like he was a loving, caring father that had took care of his kids and everything like that,” McAllister told WTHR. “To find this out, it’s just mind boggling. It’s repulsive and repugnant. It’s just … it’s disgusting.”
