On Tuesday, a 16 year-old girl took the stand in the trial of a woman accused of taking part in a family incenstuous sex ring told the court that the sexual molestation began while still in diapers.

Testifying in court, in Bay Minette, Alabama, the girl said that her earliest accounts she could recollect her having sex with adults, which included, the defendant, Wendy Wood Holland, 35.

The teen was called by the prosecution as the key witness and gave disturbing testimony that her family would often have group sex involving children, including family member Brittney Wood, who has been missing since 2012. Wood was 19 at the time of her disappearance, authorities charged the family including Holland and 10 other family members and friends, in the largest case ever to be prosecuted in the state.

During her testimony, the teen stated how her brother was forced to have sexual intercourse with Wendy Holland, while she was forced to have intercourse with the defendant’s husband Donnie.

The victim also testified how the Holland’s tried to coerce her and siblings into having intercourse with each other but they refused.

The victim recalled how Wendy Holland told them ‘we are just teaching you all how to do this.’

As she gave her testimony, the victim became emotional, telling the court how she ‘loved’ Wendy Holland and said that she is ‘very special to me.’

During open arguments, Holland’s Defense attorney Mitzi Johnson-Theodoro alleged the teenaged victim has lied and falsely accused his client.

In addition, another defendant, Derek Wood, 23, who pleaded guilty to the charges in the case, took the stand against holland and testified that he had sex with Holland when he was a teenager.

Wood, who is facing 20 years in prison, testified about having sex with Holland as many as ‘40 or 50 times’

Detective Shanna Boyington, who investigated the case, took the stand and maintained that she investigated hundreds of child sex abuse cases, but has never seen anything like this case before.

Holland is charged with sodomy, sexual abuse, sexual torture, endangering the welfare of a child and has pleaded not guilty.

Other witness testimony the court is expected to hear include, Dustin Kent, who is Holland’s brother-in-law, nephew Derek Wood, (who both pleaded guilty in being part of the group of family members who used their own children for sex), investigators, child welfare workers, and friends of the alleged victim.

A total of 10 people including Holland, seven relatives and three family friends were charged following the disappearance of Brittney Wood, who is the 19-year-old niece of Holland.

Police believe that Wood was last seen with the husband of Holland, Donnie Holland, on May 30, 2012. Just days after Wood disappeared, the body of Donnie Holland was found in his vehicle with a self inflicted gunshot to his head. Police officially ruled his death a suicide, however some investigators question the findings because of the angle where the gunshot wound entered is questionable.

At the time of his death Donnie Holland was being investigated on the allegations of child sexual abuse, however he was yet to be charged.

Police have claimed they have evidence proving that Wood was among the children, who the adults forced to watch and participate in incenstuous sexual escapades with adult relatives.

In an attempted to stop the trial, Holland’s defense attorney argued that the indictment was too vague and was flawed, however Circuit Judge Jody Bishop refuted his argument.

The Court set a one week timeframe for the trial of Holland to convene, Holland’s twin sisters, Mendy Kent and Chessie Wood, who is the mother of Brittney Wood, are set to face trial next.

Family friend Billy Brownlee, 50, was found guilty in Baldwin County last October of sexually abusing a 12 year-old girl in the Holland family home.

Brownlee’s claimed he was forced into sexually abusing the girl by Donnie Holland, however jurors found him guilty.

The investigation began after the disappearance of Wood and the suicide of Holland, what investigators discovered was as they described, a “dark, twisted tale of perversion in the working-class neighborhoods and piney backwoods of coastal Alabama.”

Eight of Woods’ adult relatives and three family friends have been charged with dozens of felonies in two counties as the alleged members of an incestuous ring that authorities say shared children for group sex.

Donnie Holland was recognized as the leader, prosecutors say, of what has been described as the largest sex ring ever uncovered in Alabama.

His niece was a victim and likely key witness.

‘Brittney could have been huge,’ said prosecutor Teresa Heinz. ‘She could have corroborated so many things.’

However, police say she has disappeared without a trace and clue to her where abouts have not been discovered.

Still, prosecutors have been able to charge two of her uncles and an older brother, who have have pleaded guilty to the charges.

Chessie Wood denied the charges leveled against her, but admits that some of her family members are indeed guilty of abusing children, which includes the sexual abuse of her daughter. ‘There are innocent people in this and there are guilty people in this,’ Wood, 39, said in an interview. ‘I don’t know how the judicial system is going to figure it all out because they’re not the sharpest tools in the shed.’

Chessie Wood, who is charged with having sex with a young female relative, said she had no idea what was going on in the family until after her daughter’s disappearance.
‘The No. 1 thing here is to find Brittney. The No. 2 thing is to get all these sick (people) off the streets,’ she said.

Prosecutors and police are asking how child welfare workers failed to seek charges after receiving numerous complaints of sexual abuse taking place within the family going back at least six years? ‘You’d be surprised how many of them had prior allegations. Nothing happened,’ said Heinz, an assistant district attorney in Baldwin County. ‘You have to wonder what wouldn’t have happened to these children if something had been done. And Brittney might still be alive.’

The case is so big officials don’t know exactly how many kids inside and outside the family might have been victimized; estimates range from 11 to 16 children who were as young as 3 or 4 when they were first molested or made to watch adult relatives during drug-fueled orgies.

The children of the suspects have all been placed in foster care or with relatives who weren’t involved in the crimes.

Authorities believe group sex and child sexual abuse went on for three generations in two families that merged when Holland married Wendy Wood, Chessie Woods’ sister.
