A teacher in Maryland received a special treat from one of her students on Monday.

An unidentified teenager at Broadneck High School in Annapolis, Md. is facing criminal charges for giving his third-period teacher a piece of his pot brownie, Anne Arundel County Police Department said.

The teacher consumed the brownie and later fell ill. She had to be transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police confronted the 17-year-old student, who admitted that the half-brownie he gave his teacher had marijuana.

The teen said his intention wasn’t to dose his teacher. He simply got scared and panicked when his teacher asked for a piece. He did not mention it was pot-laced and handed her a piece of the brownie.

His 16-year-old girlfriend consumed the other piece.

The teen was cited for assault, reckless endangerment and two drug charges. He was released into the custody of a guardian.

There was no mention of any charges against the suspect’s girlfriend, but they were both sent to the principal’s office.
