No prison time for Ebony Wilkerson, the mother who drove her children into the Atlantic Ocean.

A judge ruled Friday morning that Wilkerson is not guilty by reason of insanity after prosecutors proposed a plea deal for the mother of four children, WESH-TV reported.

The deal drops three counts of attempted murder, but had Wilkerson pleading not guilty to three counts of child abuse. The mother also waived her right to a jury trial as part of the deal.

While pregnant, Wilkerson drove herself and her three kids, aged 3, 9 and 10, into the Daytona Beach surf during what psychologists called a “psychotic break” in March.

Dramatic video shows Wilkerson fighting off rescuers amid crashing waves, but both the prosecution and defense agrees she suffered a mental breakdown during the incident.

Her defense also claimed she had low blood sugar during the accident, but she was never tested for gestational diabetes during her pregnancy. Wilkerson gave birth to a baby boy in May while she was jailed.

She is currently taking antidepressant medication, she told Judge Leah Case at the start of Friday’s hearing.

Judge Leah Case will decide next week if Wilkerson will be committed next week at a state hospital, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
