A police officer in suburban Philadelphia who has a history of stalking his ex girlfriends killed a former girlfriend and injured her teen daughter Monday night, police said.

Stephen Rozniakowski, a Colwyn Borough Police Officer, fired shots into the woman’s Glenolden home around 9 p.m., killing her and wounding her teenage daughter, police said.

Neighbors identified the dead victim as Valerie Morrow, according to NBC10.

The husband of Morrow, who is a part-time Morton police officer, fired back at Rozniakowski and injured him, authorities told the Delaware County Daily Times.

Rozniakowski, 32, went into surgery and is being treated at a nearby hospital under police guard, according to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan.

The shooting comes just hours after Rozniakowski resigned from his post.

Police say He was angry after being served with an order of protection by Morrow.

Rozniakowski was on administrative leave since March after being arrested for stalking and harassing his former fiancée through thousands of text messages, phone calls and emails, police said. He was free on $100,000 bail as he faced trial on 75 charges.

The gun used was not police issued, His gun was taken from him after his arrest, Colwyn Borough Police Chief Bryan Hills said.

Rozniakowski is set to appear before a judge Thursday morning at Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
