A Georgia middle school teacher and her husband were arrested for letting minors smoke marijuana in their home, police said.

Christine Cantrell, 40, teaches at Teasley Middle School in Canton and was arrested with her husband, Jeff Cantrell, by the Cherokee County narcotics squad Tuesday.

“She is in a position where children view her as a role model and she violated that trust in my view,”Phil Price, commander of the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, told Channel 2 Atlanta.

Police were first tipped to the goings-on at the Cantrell house by parents.

Investigators found two teens between 14 and 17 years old inside the house and determined teens were allowed to come to the house to smoke marijuana.

Police could not confirm if the minors involved in the case were students but said some were relatives.

Neighbors said the home is a well-known party scene with music blaring late at night.

Christine Cantrell has been “reassigned to a non-classroom setting” until the Cherokee County School District has concluded its administrative investigation, spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said.

The Cantrells face charges of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and keeping a disorderly house.

The Cantrells were released from jail on $3,000 bonds Tuesday night.
