The Tennessee authorities issued an Amber alert for the missing child, thnkfully the pair were found several hours later in Lineville, Alabama, 280 miles south of Nashville.

According to police, Thomas was pulled over with a man, who was driving the vehicle. Gonzalez was found inside and was said to be safe and in good condition.

However, the male driver thought that Thomas was the child’s mother,  Wkrn.com reports.

Lineville Police Department chief Monty Giddens said that Thomas had told her boyfriend in May or June last year that she was pregnant with his child.

According to Giddens, Thomas lost the baby in October and didn’t have any contact with father till just recently establishing contact with him, where she informed him she had given birth.

Thomas then ‘planned’ to babysit Gonzalez and meet her boyfriend, Gidden said.

When she met the unsuspecting man she presented the child ‘to him as their child’.

The man then decided to take both Thomas and what he thought was his child  to Lineville to introduce both of them to the man’s family when they were stopped.

Thomas was arrested and charged with second degree kidnapping. She was released on $20,000 bond.
