A mother and son in Upstate New York were arrested after selling prescription painkillers and heroin to undercover officers during separate narcotics investigations, according to a statement from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Christine Altro, 53, of Plattekill, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, felonies.

Christopher Altro, 27, of New Paltz, was charged with the same four felony counts as his mother.

Information about a woman selling prescription painkillers from her home, and a man selling heroin in the Village of New Paltz was given to the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team or URGENT.

Christine Altro sold oxycodone and morphine to undercover officers during the course of “several undercover buy operations at her residence,” police said.

Christopher Altro sold heroin to undercover officers in the town and village of New Paltz during several undercover operations, police said.

They were each arrested at their homes on Wednesday afternoon and sent to Ulster County Jail; Christine Altro on a $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail, and Christopher Altro on a $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
