Colombian and Manchester United star Radamel Falcao has helped a 17 year-old suffering with a heart ailment find a donor for a heart transplant through social media.

John Andres Uyaban had been on a waiting list for two years, when his his plight was told to Falcao by relatives. Falcao immediately took to Facebook posting: “Help us find a heart for John Andres, a 17 year-old kid with the will to keep fighting”

Just ten days later John Andres was told he would be receiving a new heart from another young man who had died in a car accident in Medellin.

His mother Sarah Fernandez told EFE: “I thank God and Falcao for helping us.” Falcao was notified by his father, who is friends with some of the boy’s relatives, at the time he was busy training with Manchester United but managed to spring into action anyway to help John Andres.

Fernandez said her son underwent the transplant surgery last week and was recuperating at Bucaramanga Cardiovascular Foundation and aside from having another minor surgery, he should be in the recovery stage.
