Two South Carolina youths face arson charges for doing just that inside a Walmart in Columbia, S.C.

An 11-year-old boy and his 13-year-old cousin were charged with third-degree arson Friday related to a Dec. 31 fire in the greeting card aisle that caused millions of dollars worth of damages, the Columbia Police Department said.

It was not a Hallmark moment. The store suffered extensive smoke damage, but the store’s sprinkler system activated and kept the fire contained until firefighters could extinguish the blaze, Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey D. Jenkins said.

Police released photos of the suspects taken from surveillance video and on Friday the parents of the children turned them in on felony charges, The State reported.

The 11-year-old allegedly stole a lighter from Walmart and used it to set the fire, WLTX reported.

WalMart was forced to close for repairs.

The two youths were released into the custody of their parents.
