Under fire LA Clippers guard Chris Paul has been fined $25 thousand dollars for criticizing a female official.

Paul criticized the two female referees in the NBA after five technical fouls were handed out during the game. One of the fouls called involved a play, which saw Paul inbounds.
The NBA announced the fine on Saturday. Paul was given a technical by the rookie official Lauren Holtkamp.

During a post game interview, Paul slammed the female ref for the decision saying, “The tech I got was ridiculous. That’s terrible.

“That can’t be a technical. We always try to get the ball out quickly every time down the court. When we did that, she said, ‘Uh-uh” I said, ‘Why uh-uh?’ and she gave me a technical. It’s a ridiculous call.”
“Maybe this might not be for her.”

Those comments drew criticism from many in social media from people who labeled the comments sexist, and the NBA agreed with the criticism.

Michele Roberts, who is the executive director of the National Basketball Players Association, which Chris Paul is the President of came out and staunchly defended the Clippers guard saying:

“Anyone who thinks Chris Paul would ever conduct himself in a disrespectful manner towards women is utterly ridiculous, outrageous and patently false.

“Paul’s management team includes several accomplished women who play a major role in virtually all of his business affairs is, alone, evidence of that fact.
