Washington State Police are searching for a male suspect caught on surveillance footage running with a toddler in his arms after an attempted abduction, with the child’s two older siblings screaming in pursuit.

The dramatic scene unfolded in the small farm town of Sprague, Washington. Michael Wright dropped his three children off at a baby sitter’s house on Sunday.

According to Lincoln County Sherrif Wade Magers, the three children played at a park unattended next to the sitter’s house.

The suspect walked up and talked to the kids for a few moments, then Grabbed the toddler right out of the stroller and ran off with the child in his arms.

His siblings gave chase to the man, his sister, Delicia’s screams caught the attention of a local merchant, Dorthy Giddings. “I heard screams and saw this man running with a child in his arm, with this little girl chasing after him screaming “he has my brother! he has my brother!” said Giddings.

She says her teenaged grandson and his friend chased after the man to a vacant lot. As the two teens approached the man, he released the child and fled.

Magers said no one witnessed a vehicle the kidnapper may have been driving. The Sheriff described him as a white male in his 30s; thin frame around 6feet 2 inches in height, sporting a mustache.

“We don’t believe the suspect is from the area. Right now are leaning towards somebody coming through town, which is along Interstate 90, a major east-west junction,” Magers said.
Thankfully the child was unharmed.
