Mexican Police Arrest Aculpulco Cartel Boss Known As The “Fat One’

Mexico’s offensive on the narco drug trafficking organizations continued with the arrest of the drug cartel boss known as ‘The Fat One.”

Federal Police arrested Victor Aguirre Garzón aka ‘El Gordo’ on Tuesday as the Mexican government intensifies their war against the drug cartels. Officials confirmed the arrest of the alleged boss of the Independent Cartel, Cártel Independiente de Acapulco.

Police detained Garzón in the east coast town of Merida.
The arrest is part of a larger crackdown by the federal police. The cartel drug trafficking and is involved in the extortion rackets within the region..

Authorities presented Garzón at the Federal Public Ministry of the Attorney General’s Office, in Mexico City.


Garzón’s detention follows January’s arrest of Luis Alvaro Leon-Morales ‘El Canario’, The Canary, who operated the cartel’s distribution network in the western seaside resort of Acapulco.

Garzón is a former police officer and cousin to the Governor of Guerrero Angel Aguirre Rivero.

Prosecutors accuse him of supplying narcotics to the inmates of ‘Las Cruces’ State Prison in Acapulco.
