TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Police arrested University of Alabama defensive back Geno Smith for driving under the influence, his second time in his career with the Crimson Tide.

Smith’s arrest took place early Saturday morning. He is currently being held in Tuscaloosa County Jail on $1,000 bail.

Smith first DUI charge was in August 2013. Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban suspended Smith for at least two games.

Saban refused to comment on his player’s arrest after Saturday’s practice. Police released no further details regarding the incident. Campus police referred any requests for information to the university public relations department.

Before this arrest, Smith had the opportunity to win the starting job at free safety. He registered 56 tackles last season. Now, his future is uncertain.
