Suspect Held on $1 Million Bail After Gruesome Discovery of Duffle with Human Remains

A Judge set bail at $1 million for a Massachusetts man charged in connection with the discovery of human body parts inside a duffel bag on Monday.

Carlos Colina, 32, plead not guilty in Cambridge District Court.
Police charged Colina with being an accessory to assault and battery, causing severe bodily injury and improper disposing of a body.

Police discovered the abandoned duffle bag with the remains of a torso and limbs outside the Biogen building Saturday morning. The head was located in an apartment complex recycling bin.

Police identified the victim as Jonathan Camilien; his death is being ruled a homicide by the Middlesex District Attorney, Marian Ryan.
A search conducted by Investigators of Colina’s apartment uncovered a saw, rope and cleaning supplies.

Detectives are still trying to determine the relationship, and motive between the two men,

According to Investigators, Colina and Camilen were last seen by the building around 11 p.m. on Friday Night. A Neighbor reportedly heard a heated argument coming from Colina’s apartment.

Authorities said Colina was seen on video surveillance nearby Biogen offices exiting the apartment building at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday, carrying a duffel bag. He is seen coming back to the to the building empty-handed.

Colina’s Defense attorney John Cunha Jr. the circumstances surrounding the “case are sensational enough, I’m not going to exacerbate a bad situation.”
