Feidin Santana, the bystander who recorded the brutal shooting death of Walter Scott by Michael Slager, the white police officer, said he just wanted Scott’s family to know the truth.

“Both men were down on the ground right before I began recording; the officer had control of the situation. He (Scott) was just trying to get away from being tasered,” Santana said in an interview with NBC news.

Santana remained quiet as Scott turned and struggled to run away, that prompted Slager to pull his gun and fire eight times, five of them hitting Scott. “The officer just shot him. I immediately knew right away I had something in my hands,” Santana told NBC News.

After reports of the shooting death of Scott had made the news shooting, he heard Slager’s claims that the man tried to grab his Taser, which is the moment Santana decided to contact the victim’s attorneys. “I thought it, if it happened to my family member, I would want to know the truth,” Santana said. He added “It was an emotional moment, when I turned it in.”
