U.S. government officials say there is little doubt that the ‘Los Cuinis’-Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) remain the most lucrative drug trafficking organization not only in Mexico but in the world.

Authorities say ‘Los Cuinis’ has garnered more economic power throughout the globe, well above the Sinaloa Cartel.

A senior official with the Drug Enforcement Agency confirmed the assessment.

“I know this sounds unbelievable, but ‘Los Cuinis’ are the richest drug traffickers in the world,” the senior official who requested anonymity claimed.

He added ” I can tell you that on February 28, Mexican authorities unknowingly arrested the world’s richest narco-trafficker,” referring to Abigael González Valencia aka ‘El Cuini.’

The Mexican Navy, Federal Police and the Attorney General’s Office arrested Valencia in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

US authorities maintain it is impossible to determine the amount of money generated by the cartel but estimated revenue to be in the billions of dollars annually.

“Officials” from various U.S. intelligence agencies confirm that ‘Los Cuinis’ far exceeds the Sinaloa Cartel in revenue earned through international narcotics trafficking.

The syndicate, which was founded by Valencia,”have become the absolute masters of the European and Asian drug market,” according to Intelligence analysis gathered by several US federal agencies. say the ‘Los

According to the U.S. State Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control,  ‘Los Cuinis’ are not only closely allied “with the Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG), but also now identify them as one syndicate.

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel started out under the umbrella of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel but splintered from the group in 2010.

“The ‘Los Cuinis’- CJNG cartel now sells more cocaine and methamphetamine in Europe and with the failure of European authorities to confiscate almost no money or drugs, the organization’s profits is close to being hundred percent,” says the DEA official.

Abigael González Valencia is known as a unique and shrewd drug dealer, who along with the CJNG’s leader (El Mencho) formulated a different strategy from the traditional drug cartels.

Another DEA official explains, “Take for example the Sinaloa Cartel. ‘Los Cuinis’ partnered with the narco-insurgents in Colombia and other South American countries to form a conglomerate.

According to official documents reviewed by Proceso for this report, the success of the criminal organization is the result of choice not to deal with the US market and instead choosing to instead corner the overseas markets

“Together with connections to organized crime groups in Europe such as the Italian Ndrangheta Mafia, they sell massive amounts of cocaine and other narcotics throughout Europe and Asia, without dealing with the risks of the U.S. market. The strategy has made a significant difference in profits earned,” said the official.
