Hillary Clinton used her position as secretary of state to do favors to foreign donors who gave millions of dollars to her family foundation.  This information comes as the presidential race for the White House gets under way, however, it does not only affect Hillary, but her husband, former president Bill Clinton as well.

Records show that over the past 12 years, Bill Clinton has received $105 million to speak at different events.  However, over half of those funds were received during Hillary Clinton’s four-year stint at the State Department.

This has raised questions once again as to how trustworthy Hillary is in a position of power.

Just weeks ago, Hillary Clinton took the headlines for days on end for using a personal email account to conduct government business.  Since, she has claimed to have handed over all emails that she deemed “business related,” leaving questions as to what was deleted at her discretion.

“During Hillary’s years of public service, the Clintons have conducted or facilitated hundreds of large transactions,” writes author Peter Schweizer, according to The New York Times, which first reported the story. “Some of these transactions have put millions in their own pockets.”

Schweizer — a former speech-writing consultant for President George W. Bush — said he found a clear “pattern of financial transactions involving the Clintons that occurred contemporaneous with favorable US policy decisions benefiting those providing the funds.”

One such transaction occurred between a large Clinton Foundation donor whose company benefited from a free-trade agreement that the State Department backed with Colombia.  The same trade deal when proposed in 2008, was opposed by Hillary due to “poor record on workers’ rights.”

In 2012, Hillary’s last year at the State Department, Bill Clinton’s earnings from appearances skyrocketed to $17 million, putting the total earnings for his appearances at $48 million while Hillary was in office.

The majority of the money came from companies in foreign countries such as China, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Cayman Islands. Bill Clinton’s income from speaking events is the family’s main source of income as reported by The Washington Post.

After Hillary announced running for president last week, the Clinton Foundation announced that it would only be accepting donations from Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany and Norway.  This has left many to ask the question, “Why?”

“We’re back into the political season and, therefore, we will be subjected to all kinds of distraction and attacks and I’m ready for that. I know that that comes, unfortunately, with the territory,” she said Monday in Keene, NH.

“It is, I think, worth noting that the Republicans seem to only be talking about me. I don’t know what they’d talk about if I wasn’t in the race, but I am in the race and hopefully we’ll get on to the issues,” she added.
