A West Virginia man helped thwart his own stick up after he pepper sprayed himself during the robbery of a pharmacy. Police arrested 43-year-old Michael Kevin Meadows for attempted robbery according to the criminal complaint filed in Raleigh County Magistrate Court, on Wednesday.

Meadows, who donned camouflage, a Boonie hat and a paintball mask, walked into a pharmacy in Beaver, West Virginia, spraying pepper spray in order to subdue the employees and the customers in the store.

However, Meadows’ masterplan hit a snag after he walked into a cloud mist of the pepper spray, becoming disoriented and struggled out to a car driven by anther man.

Police say video surveillance shows Meadows under duress after spraying himself. Subsequently the driver told police what had occurred, and placed Meadows under arrest and charged him with attempted robbery.

The driver was not arrested, Police didn’t provide further details.
