MCALLEN, Texas — The Sinaloa Federation, and it former faction now independent Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion have established the city of McAllen Texas as a hub to supply heroin to northern cities in Ohio and the New York/New Jersey tri-state area.

The indictment of Jose Alejandro Palacio, a McAllen used car dealer revealed the cartels’ operations in the U.S.

Court documents described the car dealer as a major heroin distributor in the United States. The arrest has uncovered organized crime involvement in the Texas border city, where the narco syndicates traffic large shipments of drugs through the major U.S northeastern cities.

Federal agents out of Ohio arrested Palacio in Texas charging him with heroin trafficking. He was ordered held without bail by A U.S. Magistrate Judge pending an identity hearing this week, and will likely be transferred to Ohio.

Federal Prosecutors say Palacio ran a heroin smuggling operation based out of McAllen.

According to court documents, Palacio mailed and shipped large quantities of heroin throughout the northeast United State to associates in Ohio and other cities.

Federal agents conducted wiretaps on the phone of a known convicted drug trafficker identified as Efren Vega Sr.

Wiretaps picked up conversations between Vega Sr. And Palacio discussing shipments of heroin destined for Ohio. The two men also discuss agreeing on a price of $60,000 per kilogram.

Palacio was indicted in New Jersey in 2010 with 24 other members of the Sinaloa Cartel, implicated with running a drug distribution route from the Mexican state of Jalisco, through McAllen, into Ohio, and then into New Jersey, the Gloucester County Times previously reported.

The Sinaloa Cartel members shipped large quantities of narcotics north of the border while drug proceeds and weapons got shipped south.

New Jersey indictment has identified Palacio as a reputed associate of the Sinaloa Cartel. However, in recent years he is believed to had dealings with the violent Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG), which splintered from the Sinaloa Federation in 2010.

According to Breitbart, the latest court documents obtained do not specify if Palacio is tied to the Sinaloa Cartel or its CJNG offshoot.

The CJNG made headlines in recent months by conducting numerous attacks on the Mexican government. The CJNG has been behind a series of ambushes that killed dozens of Mexican police officials and even shot down a helicopter filled with Mexican Special Forces soldiers. However, the CJNG received a bit of payback for the attacks after Mexican authorities killed 42 CJNG gunmen at a ranch in Michoacan last weekend.
