A suspected car thief in Florida tried to chew his fingerprints off in an apparent attempt to avoid identification according to Police.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a stolen 2015 Mercedes in Lehigh Acres, about 20 miles east of Fort Myers, in Southwest Florida last week. The suspect allegdly had a firearm, fake ID, a and three fraudulent credit cards.

Deputies booked 20-year-old Kenzo Roberts and placed him in the back of a patrol vehicle.

Video shows Roberts biting his fingertips and rubbing them against the vehicle’s cage in an effort to avoid being identified.

However a fingerprint scanner identified Roberts, which showed he was wanted for two outstanding felony warrants in Broward County.

Roberts is facing multiple charges and remains in custody. Detectives also contacted U.S. Customs and Border Protection and learned that Roberts is in the country illegally.
