Mexican authorities are accusing an American woman of leading robbery crew who targeted people traveling into Mexico in the border city of Nuevo Laredo.

Brandy Hutler, was arrested with Francisco Javier Resendez Cubos, 33, who is believed to be her boyfriend and Julio Cesar Trevino Rodeo, 41 by the Tamaulipas State Police.

Police officials identified the 31-year-old as an American citizen but did not reveal what state she is from originally.

According to investigators crew a targeted victims they called “Paisanos” which is used to describe Mexicans legally living in the U.S. who are visiting family in Mexico for the holidays.

The victims or Paisanos are targeted by both criminals and corrupt officials in Mexico, because of the new cars they drive and the cash and gifts they carry for family members.

According to Breitbart Texas, police arrested the crew of bandits after they received an anonymous call regarding a group of people driving a Nissan Murano, who were robbing residents and people traveling in Nuevo Laredo.

The arrests of Hutler and her two cohorts came after Authorities managed to track down the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up three cell phones, a push to talk radio, a black facemask, and a knife.

Police are investigating the exact number of robberies the group may be responsible for committing.

Nuevo Laredo is a known stronghold of the Zetas drug cartel, who control major crimes in the city as a strategy to prevent rival cartels from invading the territory.

What is not known, is whether Los Zetas permitted Hutler and her crew to operate in Nuevo Laredo by Los Zetas or how they managed to carry out the robberies without receiving retribution from the ultra-violent criminal organization.

According to Breitbart Texas, a subsequent search for Hutler’s criminal record in Texas came up empty.
