Mexican authorities have extradited three men wanted by U.S. authorities including a suspected drug trafficker who managed to escape from a San Diego, California detention center.

“The three fugitives wanted for crimes including, criminal conspiracy, drugs, sexual abuse and homicide, by U.S. federal courts, were extradited to the United States,” the Mexican Attorney General’s Office said.

According to the Mexican Attorney General, among those extradited is Nestor Miguel Miranda Téllez, who was arrested in a neighborhood located east of Tijuana.

Miranda Téllez fled to Mexico in mid-December 2015 after he escaped the San Diego detention center after he managed to remove his electronic monitoring device.

The FBI alerted authorities in Mexico after determining the fugitive had fled to Baja California.

State and National Migration Institute agents conducted the raid in the street of Natura fractionation Lobos to capture the 27-year-old native of Los Angeles, California.

Miranda Tellez was secured and made available to federal authorities for extradition back to the U.S.

“The extradition agreements between Mexico and the United States are firm and executable when all the legal options to which the subjects were entitled are exhausted,” the AG’s office said.
