Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman will be certainly be serving a “stiff” prison sentence.

According to Mexican authorities, Guzman managed to have enough time to undergo surgery at a Tijuana hospital for erectile dysfunction while he was on the lam.

The cartel leader received a testicular implant to improve blood circulation to improve his sexual performance.

The procedure requires the use of general anesthesia, which could not have been performed in the mountains of Sinaloa, where he was hiding out, reported the Mexican newspaper Reforma.

After the Jan. 8th capture of the diminutive drug lord, authorities discovered prescriptions for sexual performance drugs, injections of testosterone and anti-inflammatories in the home where he was arrested.

El Chapo reportedly had the surgery after his now famous interview with actor Sean Penn and Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, who set up the meeting through a series of flirty text messages

“I will have everything ‘super’ so that you won’t have to worry about any details, which would make me feel bad. Have faith that you will be comfortable. I will take care of you more than my own eyes,” he wrote to her in September.

“That’s so moving that you say you’ll take care of me — no one has ever told me they would care for me, thank you! I’m free next weekend!” she replied.

Mexico has already initiated extradition proceedings to send Guzman to the United States where he faces multiple indictments in several U.S. federal district courts.

Where Guzman could be tried once he arrives in the U.S. has not been determined, but prosecutors say he could face trial in New York’s Eastern District Court Federal in Brooklyn

The Sinaloa Cartel led by Guzman is responsible for the trafficking of multi-ton shipments of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamines into the U.S. every year.
