Mexican authorities have arrested three men, among them a suspected drug plaza boss and a notorious assassin with the Jalisco New Generation drug cartel (CJNG) early Sunday in the city of Tierra Blanca, located in the state of Veracruz.

Governor of Veracruz, Javier Duarte said in a Twitter post that the three men are suspects in the disappearances of five young people, including a 16-year-old girl, in Tierra Blanca back on January 11th.

A father of one of the victims abducted has filed a criminal and is claiming local police had involvement in the kidnapping of the young people.

Among the three men arrested was Serna Francisco Navarrete 54 (left) years old, along with his son (center) and another man who said one of the gunmen in the service of this alleged criminal CJNG.

Bernardo Benitez-Herrera told Radio Formula earlier this month that a witness last saw the victims being arrested by police at a gas station after they stopped to refuel their vehicle.

“It’s presumed that the criminal organization to which the suspects belonged is responsible for the disappearance of the young people in Tierra Blanca,” Duarte said.

Authorities say Navarrete Serna is responsible for “coordinating the distribution of drugs, kidnapping operations and, ordering several executions committed in the city,” the governor stated during a news conference.
