Mexican police conduct raid aimed at curbing wave of kidnappings in border city

Federal and local authorities in Mexico conducted an operation aimed at capturing a cell responsible for a rash of kidnappings” in the city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

The raid was in response to a public outcry demanding improved security conditions after a wave of kidnappings and extortions continued to plague this border city perpetrated by the Gulf cartel.

Breitbart Texas reported how in some case, the victims’ were still murdered even after the families paid the ransoms

Police arrested four members of the kidnapping cell who are responsible for terrorizing the region in the operation

According to the Tamaulipas Government, agents arrested 25-year-old Edgar Alberto “El Pecas” Cruz Gutierrez and 18-year-old Jesus Emmanuel “El Perro Guarumo” Marin Martinez along with two underage teenagers whose names have not been released.

The raid began after state authorities were alerted to a kidnapping of five people who worked as laborers for a business in the downtown area.

The victims were released after the suspects took their belongings and a white Ford Escape

Authorities conducted the raid to hunt down the kidnappers in Matamoros, which began in the downtown area and continued throughout the area.

Agents with the Tamaulipas Ministerial Police arrested the gunmen in a stolen truck without a single shot being fired.

Cruz Gutierrez and Marin Martinez both confessed to investigators to their roles in numerous express kidnappings including the five laborers and for other armed robberies that took place in the city
