S. Carolina barber and client kill armed robber with concealed weapons

A robber who attempted stick up a barber shop in Columbia, South Carolina, ended up picking the wrong place to rob after a barber and his client both pulled out their concealed weapons and fatally shot the perpetrator.

Police said young children were among the customers who packed the Next Up barber shop waiting for haircuts when two armed men came storming into the store and demanded everyone fork over their cash.

“They forced all the customers and kids to put their hands up, and they were starting to go in everyone’s pockets,” Barber Brandon Dreher told WLTX.

However, when the robbers approached head barber Elmurray Bookman and demanded his wallet, he said it was on a chair across the room. When the gunman turned and walked over to find the wallet, Bookman and his client who sat in the chair, pulled out a concealed weapons and both opened fire on the suspect.

Authorities said the second suspect managed to escape and is still on the run following the raid at Next Up Barber Shop in Columbia, officials said. Store surveillance video caught the harrowing invasion — and the resulting shooting.

Bookman said for anyone with information on the suspect to call cops.

“If you know them, turn them in, Because if you don’t, they’re going to do somebody else and, this time, it could be an innocent victim getting killed.”

Police said no one else was hurt in the incident.
