Authorities have charged a Las Vegas teacher accused of having sex with a special education student with sexual assault.

Prosecutors charged Valley High School teacher Jillian B. Lafave with performing a sex act with a pupil, which is a felony, stemming from an inappropriate relationship with a special education student.

School officials placed the 25-year-old married teacher on administrative leave after her Jan 16th arrest, which was first reported on Monday.

According to a police report obtained by ABC affiliate KTNV-TV, the teacher and student exchanged more than 13,000 sexually explicit text messages.

The report describes how the teen and Lafave would hang out every day. The relationship was uncovered after a hall monitor witnessed the teacher and the 16-year-old, who officials say does not understand right from wrong, having sex during school hours.

Lafave admitted to investigators to kissing the student several times and touching his penis before winter break but maintains she never had sex with the teen.

According to the arrest report, she pushed his hands away when he tried touching her genitals.

Lafave was released on bond, is next scheduled to return to court in March.
