Rapper Meek Mill has managed to avoid doing time after the 28-year-old was sentenced to three months to one year of house arrest, for a probation violation on Friday.

The rapper violated parole last fall for performing concerts out of town and for taking unauthorized trips to see his fellow rap artist-girlfriend Nicki Minaj and attending the American Music Awards in Los Angeles without getting approval from his probation officer.

Mill also angered prosecutors when he turned in cold water in a cup instead of urine during a mandatory drug test.

A Philadelphia judge ordered Mill, whose legal name is Robert Williams, confined to his home and mandated him to wear an electronic monitoring device starting March 1st. He will not be allowed to release any music until June at the earliest.

Williams must also complete charity work with groups serving adults.

Mill’s girlfriend, rapper Nicki Minaj was present as Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley also added another six years of parole on his sentence. His status will be reevaluated after he serves his three months of house arrest.

Minaj discussed possible charity work in the judge’s chambers with Brinkley and at one point during the sentencing hearing, she appeared to have been crying.

“I just want to ask you for a chance to turn that corner and be a changed man; You said you saw something in me … I want to prove you right. I believe I can be the bright star you intended me to be,” Mill told the judge.

Mill served eight months in jail after a 2008 arrest for drug distribution and gun possession. He served another five months in 2014 for repeatedly violating the terms of his 5-year probation.
