Authorities say four young people were shot including two 15-year-old boys, one is in critical condition, outside a home in the Englewood neighborhood on the southside of Chicago.

Chicago police spokesman Kevin Quaid, the group of boys, sat on the porch when two armed males walked up and started shooting just before 6 p.m. Sunday.

A 15-year-old boy sustained gunshots in his chest and legs was taken to a hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Doctors treated an 18-year-old man at Stroger Hospital with a gunshot in the right leg along with a 15-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl, who both suffered shots in the left leg. All three teens were listed in stable condition.

Derrick Francis, 60, who lives just a few house down where the shooting took place, said he heard nine shots, “I was watching the Super Bowl when I heard the shots, I jumped on the floor.” Francis said his 15-year-old nephew, Byron Daniels, was shot in the leg.

“My nephew is a great kid, smart kid, There’s no reason for the killing, it’s just b——-,” Francis said. He added that shootings frequently occur in the neighborhood, “It isn’t ever going to stop.”

Although police have yet to make any arrests, Quaid said an investigation is ongoing.
