Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump says it’s time the U.S. to start treating drug cartels in Mexico like an “enemy army” at our border.

Trump made the comments in response to a recent report that showed how the Los Zetas criminal organization committed the systematic genocide of hundreds and possibly thousands of residents in border cities and towns from 2011 to 2013 in the Mexican state of Coahuila.

The Republican frontrunner was asked in an interview with Breitbart News how he thinks the U.S. should handle the threat from the Mexican cartels.

“We need to start treating the drug cartels as if they are an enemy army,” Trump reiterated, “An enemy army that’s how we ought to treat them.”

JammedUp recently published a report written by Insight Crime, which revealed how the Zetas cartel used a prison in Coahuila, Mexico to dispose of hundreds of bodies.

An explosive report by Breitbart Texas further showed how former Zetas leader Miguel Angel Trevino alias Z-40 ordered the atrocities after a regional boss of the Zetas fled to the United States fearing for his life and cooperated with U.S. authorities.

The cartel covered up the mass executions in Coahuila by using a network of ovens to dispose of the bodies to cover up their barbaric acts.

Los Zetas had maintained complete control of the governmental process in the state, from the corrupt former governor of Coahuila, Humberto Moreira, who was recently charged by Spanish authorities for his connections with the Zetas cartel, to the city jails and even the local media.

Trump, fresh off his primary win in New Hampshire said on Thursday: “Large parts of Mexico is a criminal enterprise. When you look at the drugs that are flowing across the border and the corruption, the illegal things that are happening at the border, Mexico—large parts of Mexico—are a major illicit business.”

He added, “It’s happening to an extent that people didn’t know until I brought it up. If I didn’t make my speech on June 16, when I talked about the illegal immigration and the crime at the border, we wouldn’t be talking about this today.

“You wouldn’t be asking me the question. And now the other day Cruz gets up and says ‘we must build a wall’—it’s the first time he’s ever said it. And then Rubio said ‘build a wall.’ Notice, now they all want to build a wall” said Trump.
