Police arrested a meteorologist at a local Kentucky T.V. station earlier this week for growing marijuana plants in her home and weapons possession.

Tori Shaw Smoyer, 32, who is a meteorologist for local affiliate WPSD and her husband, Tyler Smoyer, were charged Tuesday.

Authorities started investigating Smoyer after receiving an anonymous tip sent to the Kentucky State Police’s Text-a-Tip program.

Police said the couple were then arrested and charged with the cultivation of 5 plants or more of marijuana cultivation, possession of an enhanced firearm, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Tori Smoyer and her husband have both posted $20,000 bail and are due back in court in March.

Supporters of the news personality have sine started a Facebook page called “I Support Tori Shaw,” which boasts over 1,300 members.

Many offered words of support and some even plan to hold a public rally for Smoyer.

“How many people would be willing to make some signs, and be up to attending a little rally Saturday morning?” wrote Facebook user Tammy Green-Price.

Another supporter posted: “She is in NO WAY a criminal and this prosecution is wrong on so many levels.”

Both first-time offenders face one to five years in prison and a fine of 10,000 if convicted of the charges.
