Authorities in Mexico have arrested a reputed hit man for the Sinaloa cartel, who is believed to have carried out numerous murders.

Mexican officials confirmed the arrest of 23-year-old Cesar Contreras Orozco alias “El Cirujano,” or “The Surgeon,” in the state of Chihuahua.

The state attorney general’s office said police officers discovered Orozco with drugs in his possession at the time of his capture.

Authorities accuse “El Cirujano,” along with another suspect in the kidnapping and murder of two men in the border town of El Porvenir situated just across Fort Hancock, Texas on the U.S.-Mexico border.

The AG’s office said Orozco and his accomplice abducted the men, drove them in a black pick-up to the desert and executed both victims with a gunshot to the back of the head.

State police officers found the remains of the victims hidden in bushes last Monday after questioning Contreras, who admitted he was a sicario who killed people for his bosses in the Sinaloa cartel.

Conteras-Orozco told authorities that he was paid 5,000 pesos every two weeks to commit contract killings for the Sinaloa cartel, the El Paso Times reported.

Police units transported Orozco to the state prison Cereso No. 3, the newspaper reported, which was visited by Pope Francis earlier this week.
