A recently surfaced video obtained by Blog Del Narco shows the moments a high-speed pursuit by Mexican Marines quickly turned into a fierce gun battle with alleged Los Zetas cartel gunmen.

The recently shot video highlights the raging violence taking place in the city of Ciudad Victoria, in the Tamaulipas state, where the Zetas criminal organization and a splinter group, Grupo Bravo are currently engaged in a bloody internal war.

As JammedUp reported, the ongoing violence has resulted in the interim mayor of the city issuing a public warning last week for residents not to venture outside past a certain time.

The video was captured by a body camera worn by a member of a Mexican Navy unit. Marines can be heard yelling at civilians to clear out of harms during a high-speed pursuit, as they prepare to engage a vehicle filled with armed cartel operatives.

“Grenade, grenade,” one of the Mexican Marines yells out. “Wait wait there are some civilians over there.”

Moments later the troops can be seen quickly exiting the vehicle and escalating automatic gunfire exchanged can be heard in the background.

The gunbattles have been an ongoing occurrence in Northern Mexico, where the Los Zetas and Gulf cartels continue to operate with impunity.

The Marines have been the most effective force in combatting organized crime in Mexico and are viewed by U.S. law enforcement officials as the most reliable allies aginst the cartels.
