Police have charged a Philadelphia woman after she ditched her four-year-old daughter in an attempt to flee arrest.

Authorities said 27-year-old Mahogany Ashly Terry left her four-year-old daughter behind after she was caught shoplifting $1,400 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s store in downtown Philadelphia.

According to Fox5DC, Store security caught Terry shoplifting Monday night, but she managed to free herself from handcuffs and flee, leaving her child in the store.

Police were called by store security, who turned over custody of the child to DHS. Terry was later found arrested.

In addition to the robbery charges, Terry now faces charges of recklessly endangering the welfare of a child.

City officials have placed the child with relatives.
