An upstate New York man admitted in court to posing as his 14-year-old teenage daughter’s online boyfriend to trick her into sending him sexually explicit photos which he would later use as blackmail to start sexually abusing her.

According to Syracuse.com, the 41-year-old man pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to 12 counts of enticing a child to produce child pornography along with receiving and sending child porn. He’s facing sexual abuse charges in Herkimer Court.

He also faces additional sexual assault charges in County Court.

The suspect’s name was withheld out of fear it would expose the identity of the underage sex crime victim.

Investigators said the man used a fake name to create Instagram, AOL and texting messaging accounts in September 2013 which he then used to start chatting with his daughter while pretending to be a 16-year-old boy from Watertown, New York.

Although they’d never met, they began referring to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend.

According to court documents, the girl had refused his constant requests to send him sexually explicit photos, however she would finally consent.

In November, the girl told her online boyfriend she wanted to break up with him because of his constant mentioning of sex.

The man responded by threatening to send the photos to her father if she didn’t reply to his demands.

At a detention hearing in December, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Fletcher asked U.S. District Judge Brenda Sannes, to consider that it was a father tricking his own daughter.

“Keep in mind the relationship between the defendant and the victim in this case, which makes this all that much more egregious,” Fletcher said to the Judge.

The father extorted the photos from his own daughter, Fletcher said.

Prosecutors said when the girl finally ended the online relationship; she received a text from someone claiming to be the boy’s mother, court papers said.

The text message informed the girl that the boy had committed suicide.

Shortly after, the father told the girl that the boyfriend had sent him the photos, which he used to abuse sexually molest the victim, according to court papers said.

The suspect would often refer to the sexually explicit pictures, and how much he liked them as he molested his daughter, Fletcher wrote in court documents.

The man’s twisted scheme came to an end after the girl alerted a school nurse of the sexual abuse at the hands of her father, according to court filings.

Police launched an investigation, which included tracing the account used by the supposed boy and discovered that the texts had been sent by someone in the home where the girl lived, court papers said.

“His torture of her only subsided after she told someone,” Fletcher said at the detention hearing.

The suspect is scheduled for sentencing in July when he faces up to 250 years in prison.

During Tuesday’s proceeding, the man sobbed uncontrollably as he admitted his guilt in court and had difficulty wiping away the tears because his hands were bound by cuffs chained to leg irons.
