Fort Bragg soldier accused of kidnap, rape of fellow soldier

A soldier in Fort Bragg, North Carolina has been charged with kidnapping and rape of a fellow soldier assigned to his unit, authorities said Saturday.

Fayetteville police charged 26-year-old Johnathan Simpson with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and sexual battery, for an incident, which had occurred off base on April 25.

Detectives with the FPD’s Special Victims unit assisted by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division agents arrested Simpson at his uniT at Fort Bragg.

Simson was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $250,000 secured bond, according to WRAL. Authorities have not released any details of his alleged crimes.

A Facebook page lists a Fort Bragg soldier named Johnathan Simpson, a native of DeWitt, with the rank of sergeant who has served at since 2009.

The page says he married a woman in 2011, and his biography says: “I am married to the most beautiful girl in the world, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been before, even if I am in a third world country while working almost 15 hrs a day. I have her and thats all i need to keep pushing forward, she is everything to me.” But his relationship status is listed as “separated.”
