Inmates at a Mexican border prison have fatally beaten a man charged with raping and killing his four-year-old stepdaughter.

On Monday, Tamaulipas State Police officials released a statement confirming the death of Sergio Oros Sanchez, who died from fatal injuries he suffered after a “scuffle” with other inmates at the Reynosa prison in Northern Mexico

Authorities arrested Oros-Sanchez last week for the horrific sexual assault and murder of his wife’s 4-year-old daughter in Reynosa.

According to El Mañana newspaper, Oros Sanchez admitted to police that he committed the heinous act “very carefully,” after his wife left the child in his care while she went to work.

Investigators said the accused rapist rushed the girl to the hospital after she went into convulsions and became unresponsive from the attack.

Oros Sanchez told hospital staff that the girl sustained injuries from a fall. However, doctors found evidence contradicting his version of events and contacted authorities.

During a police interrogation, Oros Sanchez admitted to investigators that he had abused the child one month prior and also on April 26, the day she died, Breitbart News reported.

Mexican law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that a “welcoming party” of inmates at the prison targeted Oros Sanchez.

A “welcoming party” is a well-known jail practice where prisoners hand out prison justice to inmates convicted of raping or murdering children.

The Tamaulipas State Attorney General has not released further details of the attack or the fatal injuries the prisoners inflicted on Oros Sanchez.

Inside the detention center walls, power remains in the hands of the inmates specifically imprisoned members of the Gulf Cartel (CDG).

In 2008, the Reynosa Prison was the scene of a bloody massacre, when members of the CDG slaughtered their one-time allies turned arch rivals, Los Zetas, who previously worked for the Gulf cartel but had begun to operate independently.

At the time, Tamaulipas State officials listed the death toll at twenty-one. However, eyewitness accounts at the prison had the real number killed during the massacre in the hundreds. Many of the bodies were reportedly incinerated inside the jail to cover up the actual death toll.
