A civil lawsuit is accusing St.Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez of knowingly exposing a lover to sexually transmitted diseases multiple media outlets have reported.

According to court documents filed in a Miami court, an on-again, off again love interest of Martinez’ has alleged she tested positive for STDs following a hook up back in December.

The woman who is from West Palm Beach, Florida, not far from the Cardinals spring training home, accused Martinez of negligent transmission of a sexually transmitted disease and seeks $1.5 million in punitive damages due to his reckless behavior and for mental anguish.

According to the lawsuit, Martinez had “swore to God that he was not infected with any sexually transmitted disease,” prior to sexual intercourse, The St. Louis Dispatch reported.

The attorney of the Cardinals pitcher vehemently denied the accusations to TMZ saying, “I can tell you most assuredly the allegations are 100 percent false.”

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said the organization is aware of the case and are monitoring the situation.

“My understanding is that he and his attorney are working on it,” Mozeliak told the publication.

Despite news of the lawsuit, Martinez still made his scheduled start on Sunday, losing his first game of the season.

The right-handed pitcher has in the past not been shy about showing his affinity for porn.

The Cardinals warned Martinez two years ago about his use of social media because of his habit of favoriting pornographic images from his Twitter account, for the throngs of Cardinals fan to see.
