Louisiana Prosecutors say a 28-year-old former junior high school teacher accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy, has pleaded guilty.

St.Martin Parish Assistant District Attorney Chester Cedars said Kaylyn Huval, 28, from Breaux Bridge, pled guilty to one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile on Thursday, KATC-TV reported.

As a result of the guilty plea, Huval was sentenced to a ten-year suspended prison sentence and will now be given five years supervised probation.

Huval taught at Cecilia Junior High when she was arrested in March 2015 after she allegedly became involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.

The teen victim’s mother filed a lawsuit against the school system earlier this year alleging her son suffered mental and emotional problems from the sexual conduct, KATC reported.

Also, the lawsuit alleged Huval “created situations and scenarios in which she would keep the underaged student in the classroom after the other classmates were dismissed for “sexual activity which included … kissing, hugging, acts of touching, that eventually led to acts of oral and sexual intercourse.”

As part of her probation, Huval must register as a sex offender, is required to seek sex-offender counseling, is prohibited from being in the presence of any juveniles other than family members, must pay court costs plus a $2,500 penalty and cannot teach again, Cedars said.
