A Florida attorney known for his tough stance against drunken drivers found himself behind bars early Sunday morning for driving under the influence, WEAR-TV reported.

Authorities arrested 49-year-old David J. Maloney, was nabbed shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Mother’s Day driving under the influence.

The lawyer was widely known for his ads that ran throughout Florida, warning those who drive drunk, “If you drink and you drive, and you hurt someone, don’t call me. I’m will not represent you. I’m not gonna help you, If anything, I’m gonna be the lawyer coming after you.”

A deputy for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office pulled over the personal injury attorney for speeding in a 35 mph zone and pulled him over.

“The deputy developed enough probable cause during the traffic stop that David J. Maloney was driving under the influence,” sheriff’s deputy Jacob Holloway told WEAR.

Jail records show Maloney was released on a $500 bond at about 9:40 a.m.

The lawyer described drunken driving as “senseless and selfish acts” on his website. “Drunk drivers choose to be irresponsible, And every time an impaired driver decides to get behind the wheel, he or she puts everyone else on the road at risk of injury or death,” it says on his page

Maloney’s office hasn’t commented on the arrest nor did they return calls on Sunday.
