Authorities in Southern California say a dog that was rescued during a drug arrest tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine.

Tustin Police arrested 40-year-old Joshua West, during a March 22nd hotel drug raid when they discovered the suspect’s dog named Bubba, a terrier mix, in a room full of drugs, needles, and other paraphernalia.

Police officials charged West with drug possession, violating parole along with animal cruelty.

Cops said Bubba looked lethargic and was taken to Orange County Animal Care’s facility where vets administered drug tests on the pooch, who tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine in his system.

Police haven’t revealed how the drugs got into Bubba’s system.

“This strikes me as pretty horrible, This is the first time we’ve ever heard of someone reporting that an animal has been under the influence,” said  Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright. ”

Police said Bubba has been placed in detox at the facility, and will be up for adoption once vets give him a clean bill of health.
