A police officer from New York City has been charged with leaking details of an investigation to the girlfriend of a gang member he had met on Facebook while investigating the Bronx-based gang, according to officials.

Police sources say 24-year-old Adam Malki was scouring Facebook looking for suspected gang members when he came across one of their girlfriends he thought was “hot” and requested a date with the woman, the New York Post reported.

When the pair met at the Buddha Lounge in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, Malki wore his uniform and shield

A source reported that the two soon began a “romantic relationship.”

Malki reportedly boasted to the woman, who could be detained as part of a March bust, when approximately 80 people were arrested on drugs and weapons charges, the sources said.

The arrests stemmed from one of the biggest gang takedowns in Bronx history resulting in a 386-count indictment.

Despite the information Maliki provided the woman, the details didn’t compromise the investigation and authorities managed to execute the operation.

Internal Affairs arrested the loose lips cop on Sunday at a Bronx governmental building, charging him with official misconduct, the Post reported.

Malki appeared in Bronx Criminal Court on Monday, and a judge released him.

Malki has since been suspended and has surrendered his shield and gun, NYPD officials said.

According to the complaint, Malki was in charge of helping investigators in the 44th Precinct, where he worked located in the Grand Concourse neighborhood.

Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association-appointed attorney, Seema Iyer, refused to comment.
