Federal and state investigators working to solve the mass killing of an Ohio family of eight have gained new clues from the recent release of the coroner’s death certificates.

Pike County Coroner David Kessler issued death certificates on Friday, which indicates where the killer executed each of the Rhoden family members.

Fox19 reported that law enforcement officials said Christopher Rhoden Sr. was the only victim to sustain gunshot wounds other than the head.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the death certificate revealed he suffered “multiple gunshot wounds to the head, torso, and extremity.” Kessler said his brother Kenneth Rhoden, whose body was found in his camper after police discovered the other victims, was the only victim to be shot only once.

The death certificates for the remaining family members including Dana Rhoden, Hanna Rhoden, Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, Gary Rhoden, Christopher Rhoden Jr., and Hannah Gilley indicated they all sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigators believe most of the victims were shot as they slept.

Five weeks after the murders occurred, police still have no suspects in the case and haven’t determined a motive.

Speculation that the mass killings may have been drug-related gained steam after the investigation led to the discovery of marijuana growing operations at three of the four crime scenes, which prompted the

Ohio’s attorney general to call the killings “an old fashion, cold-blooded, calculated massacre of eight human beings,” Fox 19 reported.
