A 13-year-old girl was shot twice in the leg during a championship parade celebrating the city of Cleveland winning its first championship in 52 years.

An estimated two million people flocked to downtown Cleveland for a rally celebrating the Cavaliers winning its first NBA championship, attended by LeBron James and the rest of his teammates.

According to WKYC, the chaos erupted just after 5 p.m. just after the rally had ended. Police arrested a 15-year-old teen with a gun concealed in his waistband and were still looking for a second suspect.

The girl was treated for two gunshot wounds to her leg and listed in stable condition.

Eyewitnesses told police that physical altercation had occurred leading up to the shooting on Ontario Street and Euclid Avenue in Tower City located in the downtown area.

“We heard gunshots about four of them. We were using the bathroom at Tower City, and we heard ‘Pop, pop pop, pop.’ We all ran to the back and were all praying he wouldn’t come back there,” said eyewitness Kwanetta Carter.

The parade was held in such high regards, the city’s courts waived arrest warrants and fees for people who failed show up for their scheduled trials.

Police said the event had remained peaceful up until the shooting occurred.
